AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — Authorities are investigating how the infant of a mother who was found dead in her Texas Panhandle home ended up in the vehicle of another woman in a neighboring county.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports (http://bit.ly/1dBjsYJ ) that authorities dispatched Monday evening to a home in the town of Shamrock found the body of 23-year-old Leslie Perez.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Daniel Hawthorne says investigators suspect Perez was murdered.

The woman's two-week old baby was missing when authorities arrived.

A sheriff's deputy from neighboring Gray County found the infant with 31-year-old Adriana Lisa Perez. The infant was not injured.

Adriana Perez was booked into the Gray County Jail on an unrelated warrant. Hawthorne says it's unclear if the two women were related.

Authorities say they continue investigating Leslie Perez's death.
