CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A wildlife and environmental preserve in South Texas will nearly double in size with the purchase of more than 4,700 acres from an oilman.
The Conservation Fund, in partnership with the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program, on Friday announced the purchase in San Patricio County.
Officials say the land in the Nueces River Delta, sold by Oscar Wyatt Jr., will eventually become part of the Nueces Delta Preserve.
No purchase price was announced for the land to help create more than 10,000 acres of contiguous conserved estuary habitat.
The newly acquired acreage was part of the Dos Rios Division of Wyatt Ranches.
