CALDWELL, Texas (AP) — A funeral will be held next week for a Central Texas sheriff's deputy who was fatally shot while serving a search warrant.
The service for Burleson County sheriff's Sgt. Adam Sowders (SOH'-ders) will be at 1 p.m. CST Friday at Central Baptist Church in College Station. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in the deputy's hometown of Somerville.
Sowders was shot Thursday while helping execute a search warrant at a home near Somerville, about 90 miles northwest of Houston.
A suspect, 28-year-old Henry Goedrich Magee, was being held Saturday in the Washington County jail on a charge of capital murder of a peace officer with bond set at $1 million. Magee was being held for investigators in neighboring Burleson County.
Authorities have not released details on the search warrant.
