HOUSTON (AP) — A homeowner found dead after a Houston-area house fire had been stabbed to death and authorities are seeking the public's help in finding the attacker.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified the victim as 72-year-old Caroline Stagner.
Emergency personnel early Friday responded to a house fire in east Harris County with reports of people possibly trapped inside.
Stagner's remains were discovered when the fire was extinguished. A coroner determined the woman died of several stab wounds prior to the blaze.
Further details on one or more possible suspects weren't immediately released.
