Police: SA officer struck by man throwing lug nut

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio police say a man in custody flung a lug nut at an officer directing traffic.

KENS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1ffaSQR ) that an officer directing traffic Saturday afternoon near St. Mary's University was confronted by a man walking down the middle of the road. Police say the man became upset when told to walk along the side of the street instead.

Police say the man picked up a lug nut lying on the ground and threw it at the officer, hitting her below the eye.

He ran, but was apprehended after a helicopter was dispatched to try and find him. He's expected

He was not immediately identified.

Police say he will face charges of assault on a police officer.
