Houston-area man indicted in slaying of parents

PORTER, Texas (AP) — A 24-year-old man has been indicted on two counts of capital murder in the September slaying of his parents northeast of Houston.

The Houston Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1h0trts ) Joseph Samuel Branstetter was indicted Tuesday in Montgomery County.

The body of 58-year-old Cathy Gibbs was found Sept. 24 in the driveway of the Porter home she shared with husband Randall Branstetter. The body of the 54-year-old Branstetter was found in the home.

The younger Branstetter was arrested when he returned to the home as authorities investigated the scene.

A 12-year-old relative called 911 to report her uncle shot her grandparents and drove away.

Joseph Branstetter is being held without bond at the Montgomery County jail.

Authorities have not indicated a motive for the shooting.
