DALLAS (AP) — Power has been restored to Dallas City Hall and the rest of a five-block downtown area after an underground electric vault fire during an ice storm.
Oncor (ON'-kor) spokeswoman Jeamy Molina (JAY'-mee moh-LEE'-nuh) says authorities are trying to determine what started Friday's apparent weather-related fire.
Utility officials say the fire happened around 4:30 a.m. CST. Flames could be seen shooting out of a sidewalk manhole as the equipment blew.
Oncor then cut power to the area so crews could work on the vault. Officials at Dallas City Hall, which has backup generators, were notified.
Molina says power was restored shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.
