SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A South Texas woman has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for embezzling $1 million from an interior design firm where she kept the books.

A federal judge in San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon sentenced 50-year-old Sandra Sanchez Gonzalez, who was also ordered to repay Allegro Limited.

The woman in August pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft when she worked for the company from September 2006 until July 2011.

Investigators say the bookkeeper forged the owner's signature on Allegro checks and used a company credit card to pay her personal expenses.
