CLEBURNE, Texas (AP) — Authorities in North Texas say one woman was killed in a house explosion that flattened the property and was felt far as several miles away.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tim Jones said Sunday that investigators determined a propane leak set off the blast late Saturday night. Jones said the leak was ignited by water heaters in the basement of the three-story home.
Investigators initially said there was no indication anyone was inside. Jones said searchers later found the body of 62-year-old Wanda Buckley Davis.
The blast was apparently so strong that Jones said dispatch operators received calls from the neighboring county. More than two dozen local and federal responders went to the site.
Johnson County begins just south of Fort Worth.
