DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police officers say they killed a man after he took a Taser from one of the officers and pointed it at them.
Police said Saturday that they responded to a call about a man sitting on the front porch of a south Dallas home. Police said officers approached him. When officers tried to handcuff the man, police say the man struggled and grabbed the Taser when one of the officers drew it.
Police say witnesses heard the officers yell at the man to drop the Taser. When he didn't, an officer fired his gun at the man, killing him at the scene.
Dallas police came under strong criticism after the recent shooting of a man after a neighbor's surveillance camera contradicted police statements that the man acted aggressively.
