FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A longtime Fort Worth city councilman and former chair of the North Central Texas Regional Transportation Council is the new president of the Texas Municipal League.
The Fort Worth Star Telegram reported (http://bit.ly/15wCHBE ) Saturday that Jungus Jordan plans to focus on the infrastructure needs in Texas cities. He will emphasize transportation as cities across Texas prepare for the 2015 legislative session.
Jordan was sworn in Friday, after a term as president-elect.
Created in 1913 to provide a forum for cities to confer on municipal issues, the Texas Municipal League claims more than 1,130 cities as members. Its mission is "to render services which individual cities have neither time, money nor strength to do alone."
That includes representing cities' interests to the Legislature, sponsoring annual conferences and providing administrative services.
