HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston police officer helping serve a drug-related warrant has shot and killed an armed suspect.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office says no officers were hurt in the incident Wednesday morning.
Sheriff's spokesman Thomas Gilliland says the man who died was known to have multiple weapons and narcotics at the location so tactical officers were called in to assist. SWAT personnel were trying to enter the residence when the suspect pointed a gun at officers.
A police officer opened fire and shot the gunman, who was pronounced dead at a hospital. The suspect's name wasn't immediately released. Investigators are seeking three other suspects.
The officer will be put on administrative duties amid a review of the deadly incident.
