GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — An investigation ordered by the Galveston City Council has found Mayor Lewis Rosen copied a confidential document on public housing recovery after Hurricane Ike.
The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/18yuAHk ) reported Wednesday that Rosen gave a copy to a Galveston Housing Authority executive. Rosen on Tuesday defended his decision to share the memo, discussed by council members April 17 in executive session.
Attorneys hired the city, at a cost of about $30,000, could not determine how the newspaper acquired a copy of the memo for a May story. The Daily News reported on potential city challenges on where to rebuild public housing after Ike, which hit in September 2008.
The attorneys concluded Rosen, who cited his role as an ex officio member of the authority, didn't violate confidentiality guidelines.
