SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas will speak at a Utah fundraiser next week for U.S. Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.
Lee spokesman Brian Phillips told the Deseret News (http://bit.ly/19tirR7 ) that the $2,000-a-head event will be held Friday.
Phillips says Cruz and Lee will meet with Gov. Gary Herbert to discuss the issue of federalism and how states can work with the federal government.
Lee was an early supporter of Cruz, who was elected last year.
Among other things, the two tea party champions are trying to halt funding for the federal health care law.
Lee, in a fundraising email sent Thursday, warns supporters that they're "outmatched in this fight" and urges them to contribute to make sure he's "prepared to take advantage of any opportunity" he comes across.
