LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A West Texas jury has sentenced a San Antonio trucker to 25 years in prison for beating a woman to death.
The Lubbock County jury deliberated 4½ hours Thursday before sentencing Kenneth Ray Dunn for the fatal beating of Stephanie Williams of Dallas. Jurors had deliberated about a half-hour earlier in the day before returning a guilty verdict to a murder charge.
Dunn could become eligible for parole after serving 15 years in prison. Prosecutors had sought a life term from the eight-woman, four-man jury for the 2012 killing in the cab of Dunn's semitrailer rig.
Dunn, who is 55, said he bludgeoned Williams in a fight over a drug debt and killed her in self-defense.
