GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — A suspended Texas judge accused of retaliation against family law attorneys has landed in jail for 45 days for violating a gag order.
Galveston County jail records show Court-At-Law Judge Christopher Dupuy was being held Thursday with an estimated release date of Oct. 11.
Judge Ryan Patrick's contempt order Wednesday cited recent comments by Dupuy to The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/18nsrZC ).
Patrick earlier this month dismissed five counts against Dupuy and issued the gag order. Dupuy still faces six charges of official oppression, abuse of official capacity and aggravated perjury. Patrick on Wednesday also ordered Dupuy to undergo a psychological evaluation to determine if he's competent for trial.
The Texas attorney general's office has filed a petition seeking permanent removal of Dupuy, who's suspended without pay, from the bench.
