AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — Police say an Amarillo man has been arrested on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of his 61-year-old father.
Randall County jail records show 35-year-old Shawn Michael Hooten was being held without bond Thursday pending an initial court appearance.
Amarillo police say officers on Wednesday night were taking a report from a person in an unrelated incident when they noticed Hooten walking toward them.
The son was arrested over Monday night's attack that left Perry Hooten dead. Police say the victim was stabbed while at his apartment.
Police haven't released a possible motive in the slaying.
Jail records did not list an attorney for the son.
