ESTELLINE, Texas (AP) — West Texas authorities say the inebriated passenger of an SUV has been killed after he became upset that he wasn't allowed to drive and suddenly turned the steering wheel, causing a rollover.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Daniel Hawthorne tells the Amarillo Globe-News (http://bit.ly/1a8OxlR ) the rollover occurred Monday evening near Estelline, about 100 miles southeast of Amarillo.
He says 41-year-old Juan Miguel Olguin of Plainview was angry with the driver and turned the wheel, causing the Ford Explorer to repeatedly overturn in the median of U.S. Highway 287. Olguin was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
Hawthorne says the driver was taken to a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
