ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — A North Texas man has been fatally shot by a police officer after authorities say the man began firing near a crowd outside a bar.
Arlington Police say one of its officers was patrolling early Thursday morning when a security guard flagged him down. Police had earlier received a 911 call about a fight at a bar involving more than 20 people.
Authorities say that outside the bar, the officer fatally shot the armed man after seeing him fire a weapon in the direction of the crowd and confronting him about it.
The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were hurt.
The officer has been put on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
