JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (AP) — An Anchorage-based soldier is serving as 12-year sentence after being convicted of sexual assault and adultery.
U.S. Army Alaska officials say 25-year-old Spc. Jose Nataren, originally from Mission, Texas, also was dishonorably discharged when he was sentenced April 30. The Army announced the results of the general court-martial and sentence from the seven-soldier panel on Wednesday.
Authorities at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson say Nataren was charged with sexually assaulting a female soldier on Sept. 20. He was also charged with adultery since he was married at the time.
Nataren joined the Army in 2009. He deployed to Afghanistan twice, most recently returning in October.
