CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — An ex-prosecutor has been charged with perjury in her defense of a South Texas man charged with killing his baby.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (http://bit.ly/132kBpl ) reports a Jackson County grand jury April 5 indicted Anna Jimenez on four counts of aggravated perjury. She's free on $10,000 bail.

Gov. Rick Perry in March 2010 named Jimenez district attorney for Nueces County after Carlos Valdez resigned. Jimenez failed in her November 2010 run for the job. She works for the Regional Public Defender for Capital Cases. A message wasn't immediately returned Thursday.

Christian Robinson of Edna faces a capital murder charge. His 5-month-old son died in mid-2010.

Jimenez allegedly signed affidavits saying four witnesses refused interviews.

The indictment says three witnesses were interviewed by others and a fourth reported not being contacted.
