LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Some West Texas land where a brothel once stood is for sale.

Lubbock County Commissioners have agreed to list the vacant lot and also the city's original federal courthouse with the WestMark Companies.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (http://bit.ly/11JK4jd ) reports the lot is the site of the former Rose Hotel, which historical documents indicate was a brothel. Officials say the county-owned lot would be suitable as a parking lot.

Commissioner Bill McCay said Monday that the 81-year-old former courthouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1995, needs renovations.

The three-story building served as a courthouse and Lubbock post office until 1968. The U.S. government then deeded the property to Lubbock County, which used the building for records storage. It's been vacant since 1998.
