HUMBLE, Texas (AP) — Harris County authorities have seized about 40 pounds of methamphetamine estimated to be worth more than $2 million from a suburban Houston home.
Constable deputies were called to the Humble-area home Monday night to investigate an odor and suspicious activities. They found the back door open and bags of crystal methamphetamine inside, plus items and equipment commonly used to manufacture the drug.
The home was vacant but Constable Capt. Wally Wieghat says it appears whoever was there left in a hurry. He says while it's common for authorities to seize ounces of meth, a cache this large is unusual.
Numerous firearms also have been recovered from the place.
No arrests have been made. Deputies are trying to find out who owns the house and who may have been using it.
