ODESSA, Texas (AP) — The number of people injured in a fatal auto collision in West Texas has risen to seven.
The Odessa American reports (http://bit.ly/10b20SR ) two vehicles — one with nine people inside — collided Tuesday morning. Three people were killed and four initially reported as being injured.
Authorities have identified the dead as 56-year-old Fernando Portillo of Tomball, 34-year-old Jose Ponce of Canutillo and 57-year-old Michael Vonesh of Pearland.
Conditions of the injured range from good to four who were critical.
One vehicle is owned by a company called Asbestos Removal Inc. and the second by Canada-based Sanjel Corp., which provides oilfield and other services. The Sanjel van had the nine people inside.
Authorities say the collision occurred when one vehicle attempted to turn in front of the other.
