SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) — Investigators are telling jurors in the trial of a man charged with a 1986 murder about another, similar slaying two years later that's been linked to the same suspect.

The Austin American-Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/11EfcpT ) that jurors heard testimony Monday about the death of Debra Masters Baker. Mark Alan Norwood is on trial for the murder of Christine Morton, whose husband, Michael, was wrongfully imprisoned for 25 years until DNA evidence exonerated him and allegedly implicated Norwood.

A judge has allowed prosecutors to bring up Baker's death due to its similarities to Christine Morton's death. Both women were found in their beds, beaten to death.

Former Travis County Medical Examiner Roberto Bayardo testified that Baker was beaten several times with a metal rod.

Norwood is on trial in San Angelo.
