HURST, Texas (AP) — The death of a 3-year-old North Texas girl has been ruled a homicide.
Hurst police said Monday no arrests have been made yet in the death Friday of Anastasia Williams.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office has listed her cause of death as homicide due to a laceration of the liver from blunt trauma to the stomach during an assault.
Police say the girl was in the care of her father at a Hurst apartment at the time of her death. Her mother was not there.
Hurst Assistant Police Chief Richard Winstanley tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (http://bit.ly/13qCTmC ) there were "indications of prior bruising before she was found Friday."
Child Protective Services officials also are investigating. A CPS spokeswoman says there is no record of previous contact with the family.
