EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A 23-year-old Mexican man who admitted his role in the kidnapping and murder of three members of a wedding party in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, has been sentenced to almost 22 years in a U.S. federal prison.
Gonzalo Delgado-Chavez of Namiquipa in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua was sentenced in El Paso on Thursday. U.S. District Judge David Briones also ordered him to serve five years of supervised release after completing his term.
Delgado pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy to commit murder on foreign soil. He said he and Irvin Enriquez kidnapped and killed groom Rafael Morales-Valencia, his brother and best man Jaime Morales-Valencia and their uncle Guadalupe Morales-Arreola in May 2010.
Court documents show the killings were reprisals for the drug-related killing of Enriquez's father. Enriquez was sentenced last month to 30 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to the same charge as Delgado.
