COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M University is rewarding football coach Kevin Sumlin with a raise of $1.1 million for guiding the Aggies back to national prominence in his first season.
The Dallas Morning News reports (http://dallasne.ws/Y7pPg3 ) Thursday that Sumlin's salary jumps to $3.1 million a year.
The university announced last month the two sides had agreed to a contract extension and raise, but it wasn't until Tuesday that the agreement was finalized and his new salary revealed.
Sumlin is under contract through 2017.
He's eligible for a variety of bonuses, such as $300,000 for advancing to the national championship game and $400,000 for winning the game.
The Aggies are coming off a blockbuster 2012 campaign in which they went 11-2, won the AT&T Cotton Bowl and quarterback Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy.
