SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) — Firefighters in West Texas have contained a downtown fire that leveled a warehouse full of furniture and other material.
San Angelo city spokesman Anthony Wilson says the fire was one of the largest to erupt in decades.
Firefighters continued to knock down hot spots Thursday in an industrial section of downtown. San Angelo is about 200 miles northwest of Austin.
The furniture along with wooden moving crates and other items fueled the flames. The roof of Lone Star Moving collapsed overnight.
No injuries were reported.
A call on a grass fire was received shortly before 11 p.m. CST Wednesday. It's not clear if flames spread from the grass to the building or if they began at the building.
Firefighters prevented flames from spreading to a nearby row of homes.
