GARLAND, Texas (AP) — Police say a Dallas man has been charged in the death of his 5-week-old daughter who was critically injured while home alone with him.
Garland police on Monday announced 20-year-old Tommy James White Jr. has been charged with capital murder of a person under 6 years of age.
Spencer Claire White was with her father Friday morning when other family members left to buy a new pacifier. Police say the girl wasn't breathing when the relatives returned. The infant was transported to a hospital and died Friday night.
Police believe White caused his daughter's injuries but did not say how she was hurt.
Bond was set at $1 million for White, who was being held Monday in the Dallas County Jail. No information was immediately available on an attorney.
