MIDLOTHIAN, Texas (AP) — People are lining streets and highway overpasses in North Texas as the funeral procession for slain former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle begins its 200-mile journey to Austin.

A light rain fell Tuesday on approximately 200 motorcycles, motorcoaches, police cruisers and other vehicles departing Midlothian, the small town 25 miles southwest of Dallas where the 38-year-old Kyle lived with his family.

The procession is traveling to the Texas State Cemetery for Kyle's burial. He was a celebrated veteran considered the deadliest sniper in the history of the U.S. military.

A white hearse is carrying his flag-draped coffin. Passenger vehicles are pulling over along the route to watch the procession pass.

Kyle and friend Chad Littlefield were shot multiple times at a remote shooting range Feb. 2. A suspect is in custody.
