CORSICANA, Texas (AP) — A suburban Houston woman was killed Saturday and six others hurt in a one-vehicle rollover wreck on Interstate 45 near Corsicana.
Their SUV was headed north on the freeway, about 60 miles south of Dallas, when it apparently went out of control and rolled seven times, including over a median cable barrier, before landing on the southbound side of the highway.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Thomas Moore identified the dead woman as Maria Martinez, 48, of Humble. He said only the driver and a passenger in the front seat of the SUV were wearing seat belts, and Martinez and all the others hurt were ejected in the crash just after 8 a.m.
The six injured people were hospitalized in serious to critical condition. All were from Humble and headed to Carrollton, outside Dallas, Moore said.
Moore told the Corsicana Daily Sun (http://bit.ly/XynKbu ) that a 3-month-old boy and two other children, ages 4 and 11, were among the injured. The 3-month-old was strapped in an infant carrier that wasn't belted to the seat of the vehicle, he said.
