DUMAS, Texas (AP) — Officials say an elementary school student in Dumas who brought an unloaded handgun to school did not intend to hurt anyone.
The 10-year-old boy opened his backpack during the morning assembly to show other students the gun. A student told a teacher and the gun was secured.
Dumas Independent School District Superintendent Mark Stroebel told the Amarillo Globe-News (http://bit.ly/VBAVfN ) that fortunately the gun was not loaded and the student had no intention of harming anyone.
School district police removed the student from the Morningside Elementary campus.
