GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) — Authorities have arrested a North Texas teacher for a hit and run accident that killed a 6-year-old boy last week.
Grand Prairie police say Tammy Lowe turned herself in on Tuesday to answer for the deadly accident that killed John Raidy. Police say the boy was crossing a street on Thursday when a vehicle ran a red light and struck him as his mother and sister watched.
Authorities say 53-year-old Lowe was a teacher at Adams Middle School in Grand Prairie, which is a western Dallas suburb.
Lowe is being charged with manslaughter. She had initially been charged with injury to a child. She is also charged with failure to stop and render aid. She is being held on $100,000 bond.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Lowe.
