SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A San Antonio police officer who was injured in a crash while speeding to a routine call nearly three weeks earlier has died.
Police say Officer Edress Mukhtar died Saturday evening after being hospitalized Dec. 10 following the accident.
Mukhtar had been responding to a call early Dec. 10 when his patrol car hit a wet spot, he lost control and collided with a pickup. The 28-year-old officer with 18 months in the department, was taken to the hospital with injuries then described as serious, but not life-threatening.
The San Antonio Express-News reports (http://bit.ly/UxhdOU ) that the accident report cited a failure to control speed and failure to drive in a single lane as factors in the crash.
