DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police say an officer shot and killed a 30-year-old man during a struggle outside an apartment complex known for drug activity.

Deputy Chief Gil Garza says officers approached what they thought was a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the complex near Dallas Executive Airport. He says a struggle ensued between the officers and a suspect, Lenny Ellis, and that one of the officers shot Ellis because he feared for his life.

Garza says another suspect fled but was later arrested. He didn't identify that suspect.

No one else was hurt.
