Police say the shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at a strip shopping mall as the man brandished a firearm.
Police spokeswoman Stormy McCullar did not immediately release the names of the man who died or the officer, who was not injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says shots were fired at the strip mall as police responded to the domestic dispute call nearby. DPS says the man who was fatally shot was part of the domestic incident.
