HOUSTON (AP) — Authorities say a 90-year-old Houston woman has died hours after being rescued from her burning house after an apparent kitchen fire.
An official with the Houston Fire Department says the elderly woman died Wednesday at a hospital.
Spokesman Jay Evans says the woman's son had been at a neighbor's place Tuesday night when he returned to the home he shared with his mother and saw the blaze. Firefighters located the victim in a bedroom.
Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen. Officials say the woman apparently left some food cooking on the stove.
