BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — A Southeast Texas man faces 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a day care worker in an apparent domestic dispute over their son.
Prosecutors in Beaumont say formal sentencing is scheduled Wednesday for 39-year-old Travis Wade Smith of Nederland.
Smith on Monday pleaded guilty to murder in a plea agreement over the May fatal shooting of 36-year-old Hollie Crenshaw. Police say the woman was gunned down outside the Nederland day care center where she worked. No youngsters were present.
The Beaumont Enterprise (http://bit.ly/QILAmE ) reports the couple had been in a dispute over their 4-year-old son.
Police say Smith surrendered shortly after the killing.
