EL PASO, Texas (AP) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in West Texas and southern New Mexico have seized nearly 80 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly 900 pounds of marijuana during three separate seizures and have arrested three individuals.
All of the seizures took place Tuesday.
Two of the seizures happened at the Santa Teresa port of entry in New Mexico. Officials say the methamphetamine was hidden inside an SUV's radiator. In a separate incident, 418 pounds of marijuana was found hidden in a truck.
Officers at an El Paso port of entry seized more than 465 pounds of marijuana hidden in the rear wall and gas tank of a truck.
The three drivers in each of the seizures — all Mexican citizens — were arrested and face federal drug smuggling charges.
