Police find Florida man's car broken into, his body found in Wyoming

We're learning more information about a Jacksonville man found dead in a rural town in Wyoming.

On Tuesday the Albany County Sheriff’s Office located the body of 28-year-old Jerome “Jerry” Elmore in the Snowy Range in Wyoming.

Earlier that day, Elmore's father took to Facebook asking for help in finding his missing son.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Elmore was from Jacksonville and lived on the Southside of town. At the request of the Albany Wyoming Police Department, Jacksonville police went to the victim's home to check on his well-being days before he was found dead out of state.

Police say the victim's car was found in an unsecured parking lot and said it looked like someone had tried to gain access to the car. A quick check of the home showed two cell phones inside the apartment, a $500 check and a fully stocked fridge.

According to police, Elmore's rental car was found several hundred yards away from his body. The person who rented that car to Elmore told police that he did not seem afraid nor did he talk about taking the car out of state.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office initial missing persons report stated no foul play was suspected.
