Man killed during Craigslist transaction in S.C.

CALHOUN, SOUTH CAROLINA - A man was killed Monday night after responding to a Craigslist ad according to Calhoun County sheriff's department. 

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers, the deadly confrontation took place at the Wilco truck stop just off Interstate 26 in Calhoun County at mm 139 when two men planned to meet to negotiate the sale of an item that one of the involved parties had advertised for sale on Craigslist.

According to Sheriff Summers, the two met in the parking lot of the truck stop and were sitting in a vehicle negotiating the sale when an argument ensued and escalated to several shots being fired that left one man dead and another injured.

According to the Sheriff, the investigation is on-going and persons of interest and witnesses are being questioned. The identity of the man killed is not being released until next of kin have been notified.
