HOUSTON – Facebook this week launched a new app with 1.7 million job listings for you to look through.
It’s a website called Social Jobs Partnership. Yes, it’s a Facebook app – not a mobile app.
After a brief search, I quickly found thousands of jobs right here in Houston.
To get started you only need to give it a location, a category, and a few keywords as to the type of job you’re looking for.
The job listing partnership pulls in listings from five sources, including the U.S. Government and Monster.com.
So what tips do the employers have for Facebookers? Beyond the now-obvious “don’t use a risqué profile picture” or “use obscene language,” HR directors say applicants should “like” the page of the company they are looking to work for. Companies say it’s really impressive when a web search for a candidate’s name turns up the fact that they’ve liked the company’s page, and it could give them just the edge they need to land the job.
