Makeup artist responds to cyber bullies after receiving hurtful messages online

A 19 year old makeup artist is speaking out against cyber bullies after she received hurtful messages online.

HOUSTON – A 19-year-old SMU student from Houston is speaking out about cyberbullying after she received hurtful messages online.

Victoria Katei has nearly 53,000 followers on Instagram and more than 26,000 followers on Twitter.

After seeing pictures of Katei with and without makeup online, the beauty blogger was flooded with negative messages on social media.

“They tell me things like to kill myself or telling me that I’m ugly or something like that,” she said.

The self-proclaimed makeup enthusiast is still at school in Dallas studying for finals. However, she took a break Sunday to explain how bad the cyberbullying got.

“They said they wish that one of my parents got cancer. That really hurt me, because my mom actually had cancer two times. Just to see someone say something so negative and so hateful towards someone that they don’t even know and wishing something that terrible upon someone is what really got me,” said Katei.

Victoria says pictures of her with and without makeup look so different because of filters, lighting, and makeup.

She’s proud of both pictures.

“Luckily for me, I know who I am. I’m tough. I know these people are only saying these things because they’re hiding behind a cellphone screen or a computer screen, so I don’t let it get to me. But a lot of people kind of don’t realize that and they allow these negative comments to really get to them,” she said.

Now, thousands of people are coming to Victoria’s defense online to remind her she is beautiful with and without makeup.
