Woman rescued from house fire suffers first and second degree burns

HOUSTON- A woman is in critical condition after being rescued from a house fire in south Houston on Saturday night. 

According to the Houston Fire Department, around 10:30 p.m. firefighters were sent to respond to heavy flames coming from a one-story home and its two car garage located at the intersection of Sunbeam and Rosehaven. 

Officials said there were initially reports of two people trapped inside, but they only found one woman who was laying inside the home unconscious. 

The 33-year-old woman was rescued and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Officials said she suffered from first and second degree burns as well as smoke inhalation. 

The two cars in the garage burned, and the house has extensive damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
