Woman dies after fleeing from minor car accident

HOUSTON - After a woman fled the scene from a very minor car accident, she lost control and crashed into a guide wire for some power lines.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., a woman driving an SUV was involved in a minor accident with a car near the McDonald's at the University of Houston main campus.

The car followed her and asked her to wait to make a police report about the accident. She agree, but then punched the gas pedal and took off at the next green light.

She took off southbound on Spur 5 at a high rate of speed. Apparently not knowing that the freeway ended, she struck a pole, went over a couple of curbs, plowed through a grassy area and struck the guide wire. She died at the scene.
