Woman dead, man injured in SE Houston crash

HOUSTON - Police are investigating a crash that left one woman dead and one man injured Tuesday afternoon in southeast Houston.

Officials responded to the crash just before 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 11800 block of Galveston Road. They say the driver of a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound on Galveston Road, failed to control his speed and struck a gray Volkswagen Golf. The pickup driver then swerved to the right and struck a guardrail while the Volkswagen spun out to the left and stopped in the driveway of a gas station.

The female driver of the Volkswagen, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, 63, was transported to Clear Lake Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Police say the Chevrolet driver may have suffered a medical episode before the accident.
