Touchdown Tour coming to Sylvester Turner Park and Harris Academy

HOUSTON- The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee in partnership with Mayor Turner and the City of Houston is bringing the Touchdown Tour to Sylvester Turner Park and Harris Academy.

Mayor Turner will be in attendance at the Oct. 15 at Sylvester Turner Park to address guests at 1 p.m.

The Touchdown Tour is designed to bring the excitement of the Super Bowl to the Houston area as the city prepares to host  Super Bowl LI in February.

“Not everyone will be able to be in the seats at NRG Stadium on game day in February, but that should not mean they don’t get to experience the fun,” said Mayor Turner.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment, “neighborhood tailgating” complete with food and beverages, games and other special guest appearances to promote fun and healthy community activities.

“Read On,” the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee’s early literacy Legacy Initiative, will be in the community at Harris Academy on Friday, October 14.

Former football players including Wade Smith (Houston Texans), Kailee Wong (Houston Texans), Ellis Wyms (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Herb Taylor (Kansas City Chiefs), among other special guests, will be in attendance to promote a culture of literacy through book readings to students. The former Kansas City Chiefs player and current Deputy Manager at NASA, Darryl Gaines, will also be on site.
