Thanksgiving after Harvey

HOUSTON - While many look forward to Thanksgiving turkey and the big downtown parade in Houston along with the excitement of Black Friday shopping with Christmas just around the corner, some face displacement due to flooding by Harvey for yet another week. Their Thanksgiving may be far from normal and less than joyous.

But, an attitude of gratitude and patience this season could make someone's Thanksgiving week a lot less stressful and sad. Whether it's something as simple as letting someone into your lane of traffic this week when ordinarily you'd make them work for it, or buying someone behind you in line a cup of coffee, these simple acts of kindness and civic grace will make their holiday so much warmer.
