HOUSTON - Today is Veterans Day. Thank you to all who have served America.Your sacrifice of being away from loved ones, deployed for many months, is something only you and your family can fully comprehend. It is something we civilians thank you for and extend our sincere empathy for any resultant suffering. Freedom truly isn't free. I personally extend my gratitude to all who have done so much to allow us to go to sleep at night on American soil, go to work every day, and peacefully participate in the world's most admired democracy.
Our weather forecast looks great this weekend and next week. It'll be mainly cloudy, with thin cirrostratus clouds at around 25,000 feet, pouring high over the region, riding along the Pacific sub-tropical jet stream. We'll see highs in the low to mid 70s with lows in the 50s. That pattern shifts early next week and the sun comes out with highs pushing 80° each day.
While I don't see any major pushes of 'real' cold air anytime soon as far as freezes and snow, there will be a bigger cold front arriving NEXT weekend (Nov 19 & 20) which could knock temps into the 30s and 40s at night with 60s by day.
This La Nina pattern over the winter will likely result in warmer and drier than normal conditions overall. Average highs are in the low 60s in our coldest month of January so we may see mid/upper 60s more commonly then.
